Getting Warmer is a 12-episode Bloomberg Original series that follows the host Kal Penn as he explores not just the biggest issues contributing to climate change as we know it, but most importantly, the solutions that'll help us fix the problem moving forward.
In addition to directing the studio segments of the show, I developed the set design with my producing partner Stuart Hart, and chose the final color grade.
The show led the brand new Bloomberg Originals lineup in February 2023. The mandate from Bloomberg was that all new programming needed to look premium. The budget dictated that the show needed to be shot in roughly 12 hours over 2 days, so we developed a 4-camera system, green screen panel set design, and a cinematic lighting look in a way that balanced a high production value premium aesthetic but was quick to execute on the day.
Kal is the host, but the GFX are a close 2nd, in terms of importance to the success of the show. ~22 minute episodes, four green screens and four cameras is a lot of VFX and compositing work. To ensure the post workflow was as efficient as possible, three of the cameras were locked off, with a fourth roving periodically on a Technocrane.

I modeled and rendered previsualizations of the production design months beforehand to speed up the set build during the prelight days. We considered 15-20 different options before deciding on the final layout.
